Cadman on the Winning Team for Helsekvartal i Aksdal
ARCHITECT: HUS arkitekter AS
BUILDER: Veidekke Entreprenør AS (Contractor) and Tysvær Municipality (Client)
LOCATION: Aksdal – Norway
CONTENT: Health Center
Cadman is proud to have been part of the winning team in the competition to design Helsekvartal i Aksdal, a new health center that will transform elderly care and municipal health services in Tysvær Municipality. Partnering with HUS Arkitekter AS and Veidekke Entreprenør AS, we contributed visualizations that helped bring this ambitious vision to life.

A New Standard for Healthcare Facilities
The new facility will provide 120 residential units with 24/7 staffing, ensuring comprehensive care in a comfortable, home-like environment. In addition to elderly care, the center will house municipal services such as home care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, a resource center, administrative offices, and a production kitchen.
Designed with efficiency in mind, the layout promotes collaboration across disciplines. Traditional individual offices are replaced with flexible, shared workspaces, encouraging interaction between healthcare professionals and optimizing workflow.

A Community-Oriented Design
Helsekvartalet is designed to feel welcoming and inclusive, not just for residents but also for visitors, families, and volunteers. The layout integrates social spaces that encourage interaction and engagement, helping to create a dynamic and supportive environment.
Within each floor, smaller “neighborhoods” provide familiar, home-like settings, while common areas remain accessible for larger gatherings and activities.

Innovation in Care and Workplace Efficiency
The design challenges traditional healthcare facility models by introducing more adaptable, multifunctional spaces. Shared zones replace fixed workstations, ensuring that staff can move freely and work where they are most needed. This flexibility supports a modern approach to care and improves overall efficiency.
While the initial design is complete, adjustments will continue as the project moves forward. Organizational planning will also ensure that healthcare professionals are actively involved in shaping how the facility operates.
Winning this competition marks a significant milestone for the project, setting the stage for final approvals in late 2024 before construction begins.
Cadman is honored to have contributed to the visual storytelling of this forward-thinking healthcare facility and looks forward to seeing the project come to life.
